What’s in Your Handbag, Lindsey?

Well, self, I’m so glad you asked! ;) Like most women, I feel that the contents of my handbag are of the utmost importance. Being a Mother makes staying organized pretty mandatory and I definitely have a few staples that I must take with me everywhere I go. I also have a few not so important, but fun, things I like to keep on hand. This link up party/series should be interesting and hopefully provide us all with a little insight into what we find necessary and maybe make our lives a bit easier by seeing what others carry with them at all times. Oh, ya, this is going to be a link party! Meaning, you blog about the contents of your handbag and submit your link using the handy little button at the end of this post :)

If you follow me on Pinterest you know I have been going back and forth trying to decide on the perfect new handbag in recent weeks. I love, love, LOVE to shop and I am also incredibly indecisive so this process was way more complicated than it should have been lol. Here’s a screenshot of my handbag shopping board on Pinterest

I finally decided on a bag that reminded me of my Pretty Darn Cute Design logo, I’m a sucker for bows.. (please don’t judge my lack of photog skills. I totally took these photos on a wrinkled white tablecloth..spare time to iron is scarce these days)

Meet Betsy – The Bag – “Lucky” By, Deux Lux

Oh, and the bow comes off! I don’t know why on earth you would ever want to remove such a large, fabulous bow, but it’s nice to have options ;)

Isn’t she fun?! If you know me, you know I name everything. Especially my bags. It’s the first thing I do after I buy it, name it. I feel like Betsy is a fun little sassy name and fitting for this sparkly thing. I have recently realized that two children require a rather large handbag. The 4 year old doesn’t so much have things I have to carry, but on occasion I’ll have to throw clothes or snacks etc in there for her along with all of the baby’s necessities. This bag also comes in a red/pink combo, but I opted for the more subdued colors since the bow is as large as my head.. I did love the other color combo as well, however.

So, here’s what’s inside…

Altoids

I prefer the Wintergreen, but cannot always find them. Low calories, zero artificial sweeteners. Sweet.

Wallet

After I purchased my handbag I went searching for a fun wallet to match. I looked online, department stores etc. I found most of the ones I liked the look of were just zipper wallets and didn’t open. I wanted mine to open like a book, but also have a place that zipped or snapped close. I was super excited to find this little beauty at TJ Maxx for a whopping $7.99.

Diaper Pouch

Well, it’s actually a pencil pouch I bought in the school supplies section at Wal Mart 4 years ago when Chloe was still a baby. It fits diapers and the wipe case perfectly. I don’t like things free floating in my purse, so this is a necessity.

Vera Bradley Makeup Bag

As I mentioned previously, I cannot have things just free floating in my bag. Drives me crazy. So this plastic lined bag from Vera Bradley is perfect to hold my lipstick, lip liner, tiny hairbrush, hand sanitizer, lip gloss, extra ponytail holders, bobby pins etc. I also really love her “Kiss and Make Up Cosmetic Bag“.

Contents of Vera Bag

  • “Put your big girl panties on and deal with it” Mirror, a gift from my Sister :)
  • Cottonelle Wipes – Just in case I forget to refill the wipes case or for anything else we might need them for.
  • Antibacterial Gel – I’m a complete germaphobe. Must have this at all times.
  • A ponytail holder and large bobby pin – Texas summer heat is no joke.
  • Mac Lip Liner – Spice
  • Mac Viva Glam V Lipstick
  • Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment – I blogged about this the other day, and it has become a staple in my bag for sure. I do not leave the house without it, love!
  • Mac Lip Gloss
  • Flowerbomb Perfume Roller – Love this stuff
  • My favorite Papermate Pen
  • Nars Lip Lacquer – Chelsea Girl
  • Some chapstick from a recent birchbox I was trying out, but no longer use since Fresh Sugar came along.
  • and a nail file, because hangnails make my skin crawl..

Collapsible Hairbrush

While it too resides in the Vera bag, it’s deserving of it’s own photo. This is from a Lancome gift about ten years ago. Very important. I use it nearly every day lol. If, and when, it breaks I will cry.

Sunglass Case

I have only recently, finally, realized the importance of a sunglass case. I don’t like big bulky things in my bag, but after breaking around 10 pairs of cheap sunglasses I decided to invest in a case and get a pair of moderately priced sunglasses to help me take better care of them. This is also from TJ Maxx and was under $10. And it’s pink, I love pink!

Cake Coin Purse

I like to keep my coins separate so I can grab them easily. I also don’t want them making my wallet all bulky, so this little coin purse by Petunia Pickle Bottom works like a charm. Also, it’s really cute :) Thank you, Rosenberry Rooms!

iPhone, Keys & iPad

I don’t always have the iPad with me, but most of the time I like to take it places to do a little work on the run. My iPhone is attached to me 24/7. I’m a Military Wife and during deployments you learn to never leave a room or even walk across a room without it. Although these days I’ve been forgetting it more often than ever, 2 kids will make your brain mush. Straight mush.

Betsy

Here she is all loaded up and ready to take on the world :)

I thought it would be fun to make this a link up and have all of you fabulous readers out there share your own handbag contents on your blog. Feel free to use the graphics I created below for your own blogs and link back to this page to see others :)

What a fun link up!! :) I actually rarely carry a bag these days since A) we don’t go much further than the Exchange/Commissary and B) I don’t have a baby again yet to need to carry things for. Do you take a separate diaper bag with you? Would love a peek at that, too. Since, you know, I’m nosy like that.

You sound like me when we lived in Hawaii, I just had my wallet wherever we went. No need for anything else when you’re not going far :) I actually don’t carry a diaper bag, just the wipes and diapers. I keep a few things in my car just incase (spare onesie, bottles, extra wipes, water bottles) but that’s about it. I like to keep it simple and hope for the best lol :)

Oh, you ARE my envy with how organized you are!!! :( Please, do tell, what do you do with all of your receipts? That is what gets WAY too overwhelming in my purse!! (Oh, and LOVE Betsy AND the bow! ;) )

Hi Tanya! Thank You! Girl, I’m not nearly as organized as you might think. I’m just a stickler for clutter with my handbag for sure. Receipts I either throw away immediately or (if it’s a large purchase) I put it in my wallet until I get home and then it goes into a file in my filing cabinet. I literally have a file named “receipts for big things” lol Hope that helps!

Loved your first bag post! Very fun and yes you are organized. My purse is usually insane but I’d love to get on board and participate soon!

Holy impressive, either that’s a magical bottomless-pit Mary Poppins bag, or Betsy is a lot bigger than she looks – that’s a lot of stuff to fit! ;) I guess that happens when you have kids, though! Here’s what mine looks like: http://pinterest.com/pin/170714642094904565/

Oh my gosh it’s huge! I should have taken a picture of me holding it, but I don’t too much care for pictures that include me lol! I love your little doodles that you had in your bag, too cute! Thank you for sharing, Jess!

OMG what a cute purse, I’m so afraid to the mess inside my purse. I may have to make you my purse role model lol.

Loved your blog, you make me laugh! :) Thank you for sharing Cherry Bomb with us all, I’m so glad to know I’m not the only one who names their bags lol!

Absolutely love your bag! I am a huge fan of large bows :) You’re wallet is so cute, do you know what brand it is? I have been looking for something just like that to throw in my diaper bag and havent been able to find anything!

    • 19

I do not know what brand, it doesn’t have a tag or anything :/ I bought it at TJ Maxx a few weeks ago though, so chances are they still have some :)

Love your separate pouch idea!! I cant believe I never thought of it! I too hate free flowing things in my purse. My purse ALWAYS gets cleaned out and organized before we leave the house. You made my purse less cluttered. Thank you!!

    Hey Linds,
I remember doing this on the forum a few years ago and having so much fun :) I joined and shared :)
