Emily Maynard’s Curling Iron, The Bachelorette

Ever since she first appeared on The Bachelor I have been in love with her style, but especially her hair. Emily Maynard’s hair always looks so perfectly styled, one would assume it’s professionally done every single day. She actually does her own hair and makeup, and did for every date on The Bachelorette this past season. Impressive. Last week she tweeted that she would be doing a Q&A with @InStyle on Twitter. So I followed along and read where she uses the Sultra Bombshell curling iron.

You can read the rest of her q&a on InStyle’s website, here:

Anyhow, I bought the darn thing. They ship those suckers fast, 3 days later it was on my door step. So, today I played. I’m not one who can do many things with their hair. I’ve purchased tons of curling irons over the years in sad attempts to do something beyond my straight brown hair with a poof. A poof is what my Sister and I call ratting the crap out of your hair Dolly parton style ;) We’re Texas girls…The higher the hair, the closer to God :) Anyway, I suck at curling my hair. There is always a crease and something that looks like it may have resembled a curl at one time, but appears more like slept on 80s prom hair.

So here is what my hair usually looks like, either halfway up or all the way down.

I also mix in a bun on top of my head most days, but usually towards the afternoon after chasing my crazy 4 year old around and dealing with this sweet (teething) baby girl of mine… Please also note that you do not see many pictures of myself on this blog because, well, I feel super awkward taking pictures of myself. For the sake of this review though I feel like you need to see a true before and after. So please excuse my crazy eyes, bad lighting and iPhone quality photos ;)

Look, the first successful curl of my entire life!

After I was done curling my hair I flipped my head upside down and touseled it a bit, “poofed” my crown, and finished it off with some hair spray.

All Finished…

For my first try with this thing, I’d call it a great success. I’m so excited to finally have more than one hair style :)

I love this thing! thanks, emily & Sultra!

I think every girl needs one of these :)

Ahhh! So pretty!! I had my eye on the bombshell a few months ago, but did some research and got a much cheaper alternative (infiniti by conair) and I LOVE it. One day I’ll have to splurge for it though!

    Go curls! ;)

It turned out great! Now I just need to know your secret on how you get so much volume at your roots! I try to tease my hair and I always look like a mess. I must have missed out not growing up in Texas, lol! ;)

Awesome! I just rat the you know what out of my hair until it’s super tall, then I smooth it with a round brush :) I’ll have to video it one day so you can see how crazy it looks prior to the smoothing lol :)

What size curing iron did you use? The bombshell comes in 3/4 and 1 inch? Your hair is gorgeous!!!
