Whimsical Frame Craft

A couple years back I purchased this fun frame from Ikea. It was empty and I had an extra owl vinyl decal sitting around, so I threw it on some scrapbook paper, put it in the frame and left it in my closet… because it was ugly :)

I knew I could find a million (cute) uses for it. Deciding which direction to go was the difficult part. This frame pops up on Pinterest all the time. Among my top two favorite uses I’ve found are to create a chalkboard, and what I ended up doing with mine. It would look good in any color, ultimately I decided to go with old faithful. Pink!

Here’s how I did it:

  • Spray painted the frame
  • Used spray adhesive to stick fabric to the cardboard backing of the frame.
  • Cut a diamond template out of white paper then used it to trace the individual pennants out of scrapbook paper.

  • Used a glue stick to stick them together over memory thread, also purchased from Hobby Lobby.

  • Tied the memory thread to the frame
  • Painted the “LR” initials/letters I bought at Hobby Lobby.
  • Hot glued the letters to the fabric
  • I love how it turned out and had so much fun putting it together. Projects like these can go a million different ways, getting the inspiration is key. Which is why I love Pinterest so dearly ♥
