I first saw this on Jon & Kate Plus 8 a looooong time ago and only recently decided to try my hand at it. Kids love monkey bread! They especially love to help make monkey bread, and a mess while doing so… Well my kid, anyway
There are a bazillion different monkey bread recipes out there, this is just my take on a very common (but delicious!) dessert. I wonder how many more times I can say monkey bread today? Anyway, enjoy this monkey bread recipe!
Ingredients:
2 16.3 oz cans of biscuits
1 tsp vanilla
2 tsp cinnamon
1 stick of butter (1/2 cup)
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar
Preheat your oven to 350° & grease a tube pan.
Mix your sugar and cinnamon in a large ziploc bag.
Cut your biscuits into fours.

Shake a handful at a time in the cinnamon and sugar mixture until covered.

Arrange them in a greased tube pan as you go. (ignore my bundt pan, you’ll see why in a minute…)

In a saucepan, melt your butter, brown sugar & vanilla on medium letting it boil for a minute.

Pour your mixture over the biscuits in the bundt tube pan.

Bake at 350° for 35 minutes. (check to see if they’re done, and watch to be sure they don’t burn)

So, here is where things got tricky for me… I used a bundt pan, apparently that’s big no-no in monkey bread making. I greased it like crazy and still the monkey bread stuck to the pan. I tried for a good 30 seconds (i was hungry) to get it un-stuck, but… this is all that came out…

So I tried piecing it back together, it wasn’t pretty…

But, the good news is it was still delicious

Thanks for posting this! We were craving something sweet tonight. I made it in my angel food pan and it turned out perfect!
Funny! My four year old, just today, asked when we can make Monkey Bread again. It’s always a huge hit!
=)
I do mine in a pie pan and it works out great! Pops right out every time
Will be making this with Wyatt very soon! Thanks!
Growing up, we called this “pinch me cake” since you pinch off little bites.
I make this ALL the time. i add an extra can of biscuits and skip the shaking in the bag. I put half in the bottom of my BUNDT pan pour half of the brown sugar/buttter/cinnamon/nut mixture over them , then add the rest on top and pour the rest of the sugar mix on top and bake. I very seldom have a problem with it sticking – except to my fingers while eating it! LOL!
Made this for Easter breakfast, it was a big hit! My kids (4 and 5) loved helping make it and they dug right in after it was cooked. Thanks for the great recipe!
I love this recipe! I normally do it with rhodes rolls, and this will be so much cheaper for me!! Thanks!!!! I am so glad I just found your site!
if you like monkey break check out my food blog. I have a recipe kind of similar to this for personal monkey bread. The boys love having their own little personal monkey bread they can eat. It is really yummy as well.
Thanks for this recipe! I made it this morning for breakfast! YUM!
So glad you liked it!
