I first saw this on Jon & Kate Plus 8 a looooong time ago and only recently decided to try my hand at it. Kids love monkey bread! They especially love to help make monkey bread, and a mess while doing so… Well my kid, anyway 🙂 There are a bazillion different monkey bread recipes out there, this is just my take on a very common (but delicious!) dessert. I wonder how many more times I can say monkey bread today? Anyway, enjoy this monkey bread recipe!
2 16.3 oz cans of biscuits
1 tsp vanilla
2 tsp cinnamon
1 stick of butter (1/2 cup)
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar
Preheat your oven to 350° & grease a tube pan.
Mix your sugar and cinnamon in a large ziploc bag.
Cut your biscuits into fours.
Shake a handful at a time in the cinnamon and sugar mixture until covered.
Arrange them in a greased tube pan as you go. (ignore my bundt pan, you’ll see why in a minute…)
In a saucepan, melt your butter, brown sugar & vanilla on medium letting it boil for a minute.
Pour your mixture over the biscuits in the
bundt tube pan.
Bake at 350° for 35 minutes. (check to see if they’re done, and watch to be sure they don’t burn)
So, here is where things got tricky for me… I used a bundt pan, apparently that’s big no-no in monkey bread making. I greased it like crazy and still the monkey bread stuck to the pan. I tried for a good 30 seconds (i was hungry) to get it un-stuck, but… this is all that came out…
So I tried piecing it back together, it wasn’t pretty…
But, the good news is it was still delicious 🙂
