A Lil Work Workout

Recently, myself, and three of my office friends (who I will just refer to as “the girls”
from here on out) decided it is time to get healthy while we’re working. This sittin’ all
day long in front of the computer is doing a number on our booty’s.

THE DILEMMA: What can we eat during lunch at the office that’s healthy, yummy, and
inexpensive? And also, how can we get a mini-workout in without breaking too much of
a sweat? I work in an office with 12 other people. I’m pretty sure our fellow co-workers
would not be happy with 4 stinky girls hanging around in the afternoon.

So, after putting our noggin’s together and noodling (I would like to thank Lindsey &
Erin for adding this word to my vocabulary) for a while here’s what we came up with:

FOOD: (I have to be honest, I didn’t have much to do with this part. I was home sick. So,
I’m giving credit to the girls.) The girls put together a list of yummy crisp veggies that
they all agreed they would like on a salad. Each of the 4 girls picks two things off the list.
Then on Monday each girl brings in her two veggies, spinach, a couple of boiled eggs and
dressing of her choice. Every day we throw our veggies together and VOILA!

THE WORKOUT: We all agreed that we weren’t looking for a hardcore workout in the
middle of the day. Just anything that would get us out of our chairs and get our heart
pumping a little. We considered a brisk jaunt around the block, but then remembered how
stinky one can get outdoors. Wanting to respect our fellow co-workers nose buds, we
came up with another route! The office building we work in is 19 stories and we are on
the 11th floor. Why not take a walk up a few flights of stairs?

THE RESULT: So far, the salad idea has been extremely successful! It’s saving us all
money daily and it’s delish! (Kudos to the girls!) I am loving all of our veggies. They
make for a very flavorful dish. We will switch it up occasionally to keep away the
boredom.

The stair walking has been interesting. We all realized how badly we are out of shape and
thought we should just start with floors 11-19. 8 floors can’t be bad, right? I must admit,
I’m a little embarrassed…but we were all huffing and puffing by the end of it. Our legs
were all jiggly, and you would’ve thought our hearts were going to beat out of our chests!
I’d say, all signs of a good little workout that only took us about 3 minutes. Pretty soon,
we’ll be movin’ on up all 19 flights of stairs like it’s nothin’!

We are a motivated “Fabulous 4” right now, and I hope we stay that way!

So, what do you all think? Any office workouts that you’ve found helpful?

The adventure continues…

This is a wonderful idea….I’ve heard that walking up and down stairs everyday burns alot of calories. Another thing for your salads…the packages of imitation crab meat are very good!! Some come in strips or chunks. You can cut them even smaller and they do alot for a salad. Avocadoes are great as well.
