Margaritas are my mixed drink of choice and while I believe a regular margarita on the rocks with salt is perfection, this homemade cranberry simple syrup is a marvelous addition. Mom and I made these the other night and were pretty darn happy with the outcome. They would be great for Christmas parties or any event this Holiday season.
Ingredients:
3 Cups of fresh cranberries
1/2 Cup of Sugar
1/4 Cup of Water
2 Tablespoons of Tequila (Patron works nicely)
2 Tablespoons of Triple Sec
1 Lime
Simmer your 3 cups of cranberries in a saucepan with your 1/2 cup of sugar and 1/4 cup of water until the cranberries burst. Make sure you turn the burner off as soon as the cranberries burst so as to keep the syrup from becoming too thick. You just want the flavor of the cranberries to infuse the syrup.
Next, place 3 tablespoons of your syrup into a cocktail shaker with your tequila, triple sec and the juice of one lime. Shake, pour and enjoy!
You could line the rim with either sugar or salt. Dip the rim in lime juice then dip in sugar or salt.
Garnish with a lime wedge

How many servings does your Cranberry Margarita make? Does each serving require the juice of a whole lime?
