How to create a simple blog button in photoshop:
(click thumbnails to enlarge screen shots)
Step 1
Click on “File” select “New” 100×100 pixels
Step 2
Fill your background with whatever color you like.
Step 3
Add your text (and/or whatever other graphics or images you like)
Step 4
Simultaneously hold down the command (mac) or control (pc) key and click on your background layer thumbnail preview on the layers palette.
Step 5
Create a new layer
Step 6
Click “Edit” in your top menu bar, then select “stroke”
Step 7
Adjust your stroke settings to your liking. Here are mine:

Save your button to some place you’ll easily remember (desktop works well for me)
And…. you’re done!

I am a very beginning blogger, and excited to start getting more consistent posts up, but…. I’m simply dying that I don’t know much about how to do the design things I want! I don’t quite yet want to spend the money for custom designs, until I get a better feel for what I’m doing and what I’ll need. I do, however, know exactly how I want my blog to look, but just don’t have the skill to do it, lol.
There are many things like this that I know I could do myself, to personalize things a bit…. And I’m a beginner at Photoshop too, so this is a huge help!! Now, if all goes well as I attempt to change the coding for the colors on my blog this week….. We’ll be finally getting somewhere!
